Get Organized for Christmas

Here we are, only 12 complete days left until Christmas.

The days are dwindling and probably getting even busier for you as family and social events are starting to get in full swing.

As I am really throwing myself into Christmas this year, like no other, I am finding some nice tricks to help keep me moving forward despite the usual things that pop up right before the holidays – sick kids, school events, family gatherings and outings and so on and so on.

Here is what I've done so far:

1 – Created a simple Christmas countdown on my own calender.  I put the days counting backwards in red on my large wall calender, and every day down, I put an X through it.

This really helps me to suppress my urge to be delusional in thinking that I always will have more time – and that I will never have enough. I can see at a quick glance exactly  how much time I have in a realistic view.

2 – I make it a game to do at least one Christmas decor improvement around the house. I try to do it first thing in the morning to surprise the kids when they get up. Their 'hey, what the heck' look on sleepy face is priceless and well worth the early rise. You can see some pictures by joining the Big Christmas List.

3 –  I did an inventory of my Big Christmas List tasks to see exactly how many I still had to do, and approximately how long it would take me in terms of days. I marked a 1 beside any that I could do in 1 day, a 2 if it was a big item that would take me more than1 day etc. That way I could budget my days and mark down my tasks for each one. I haven't done it, but it just occured to me to put them on my Christmas countdown calender.

These 3 tips will help you to get or stay on track this Christmas too.

As I've been going along, I've been finding that I need additional things – like more recipes and

ideas. I found a few terrific resources that I am happy to be able to pass along to you for free!

LOTS OF TERRIFIC FREE RESOURCES THAT YOU CAN REALLY USE

They include…

  • Traditional Christmas dinner recipes
  • Alternative Christmas dinner articles
  • Christmas candy recipes
  • Christmas dessert articles
  • a really cool Christmas Gifts in a Jar book that is piled full of ideas and recipes so that you can make some much appreciated and easy on the budget Christmas gifts.
  • And of course, you will get my Big Christmas List, a rundown of all of the things I decided that I need to do one morning at 3am when I awoke stressing about the holidays. Writing them down was the first step to making it a lot easier and more relaxing.

I've loaded these all into booklet formats, so you can download complete, free booklets containing the recipes and articles for each topic. Sweet!

These booklets are really saving me a lot of time in searching out recipes AND I am happy that I don't have to clip any recipes or save any recipes. I will have them all in one handy place next year and all the years after.

As a matter of fact, I just asked my sister if she had a recipe this morning, she said she did have but it is in her Christmas magazines. And she can't find her Christmas magazines!

So just be sure to save these booklets in a safe place on your computer where you can find them, and voila, you will be rarin' to go next year too.

I'm very pleased with my progress so far. It just keeps getting better.

I'll be ready for Christmas year.

How about you?
