 Using Habits to Create Success

I said earlier that the number one success factor is self discipline

The number one thing that will help you out with that is getting in the habit of forming habits.

Habits put it all on autopilot so that there is hardly any effort or self discipline involved. I like that!

Today I am trying out a new habit.

It's something that a lot of people, especially organized people do naturally. But I don't.

DRUMROLL PLEASE…

To put things away from the last activity before going on to the next.

I think you can call it cleaning up after yourself Undecided.

I've been making a concentrated effort to do this today and it's great. All the progress that I've made so far over the holidays is still clean.

No new messes except for a box that I'm sorting in the livingroom. Hope to have it sorted and put away tonight.

NEW HABIT FOR THIS WEEK?

I am going to try this for a week. And hopefully longer!

If you have a problem with messes appearing out of nowhere, maybe this is something you might want to try too.

Or maybe you can try something else.

Choose one thing that you know you should be doing, try something small to start. And commit to it this week.

I'd love to hear what you choose!

If you want some help with it, Cara of Housework Helper is putting together a program called This Weeks Focus on her blog.

You should check it out as well as her website and weekly podcast which is getting raves.

  1. The 3 Keys to Cleaning House Says:

[...] Create a HABIT starting today, to pick up after yourself. Even if it sounds trivial. You may need to conciously remind yourself to do it. The important thing is to do it. If it falls down, pick it up. If you took it out, you put it away. If you messed it up, you clean it up. As soon as you are finished with it. NOT LATER as we know, later never comes. [...]

THEME FOR THIS WEEK
  • "For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."
John F. Kennedy, 35 President of the United States

  • Do Kaizen: Start the day with one task that will make gradual positive change - take you up a notch - make something more efficient, eliminate something, put something to work for you. Do this every day first thing. Put aside the time and say KAIZEN! Doing a morning BOOST Housework Circuit could be just the thing - it works for me!
