Welcome to part two of my bedroom journey.
It started as a lesson in making decisions and letting go of things that are dear to us – stuff we like! – in the name of clear spaces and room to breathe – and thrive.
This part is all about reality decluttering, letting go and in the end, redemption and a whole new outlook fostered by clear spaces and living clean.
But it's also about overwhelm and how to deal with it.
Because I can tell you, when I got home from dropping my bed and chair off at my sister's house and saw this…
Ugghh! |
I didn't know where to start.
So after a good nights sleep, I did what I always do when I feel that way.
I got my timer, (actually, I got my new cell phone – my absolutely awesome new personal manager) and set the timer on it to go off every 15 minutes.
That gave me a place to focus for 15 minutes – it works wonders.
These pictures were taken in 15 minute increments.
What We're Working With… |
15 Minutes Later… |
15 Minutes After That… |
I did take 1/2 hour to putter and wipe/vacuum etc and I took some time in between to eat – cleaning up a mess like this sure brings on an appetite! So in total it took a little over 1 hour of focused hussle to get this mess under control. Who would have thought?
Here are more after pictures of my new bedroom oasis. Obviously I am only beginning the transformation. I need curtains, a good floor polisher and I need to ask the Bossman to get rid of the trunk. Then next on the list is paint and curtains.
I also am going to have some interesting shots of the new bed we dreamed up that is going to cost us about 1/3 of the price and keep to our simple theme. We aren't finished yet!
Favourite Part? Clear Space! Room to Breathe! |
And Workout! |
Next time watch for the Monster In the Closet – yes, I tackled that pile in the closet!
I'll also be posting a before/after shot of the room with the bed and chair and without and some pictures of decorating in pockets. I can't wait to tell you what that is!
Stay tuned!
