I had an epiphany this morning. We are getting our counter top finished and on this week. Finally! It's been 12 years coming.

Up to now it's been plywood in various stages of paint and unpaint.

Follow My Progress

So I was thinking, I do not want this new counter top cluttered with dishes and mess.

Attempts so far to get everyone in the habit of doing their dishes instead of piling them on the counter or in the sink have been dismal.

So I thought I would tell everyone – "OK guys, this is our new counter. It's beautiful. Let's 'love it' and keep it clean so that it will always look nice".

SOUNDS KIND OF DORKEY, BUT…

Sounds kind of dorkey and I'm sure to get some rolled eyeballs but it made me realize that if you love something, you are much more inclined to look after it.

If you don't take it for granted or remember to be grateful for it, it will often be found under a pile of junk.

And the cycle repeats itself. It becomes an eyesore, something to do instead of something that you love that gives a good feeling when you see or use it.

SO HOW ABOUT SOME LOVE?

Take a few minutes to look around you. No matter what the state of your house, it's yours. Even if you don't own it, it's your space to live in now.

It gives you shelter and more than that, it gives you a place to show love to your family. And so much more.

But it might take some looking with new eyes.

Some gratitude.

Some love.

How about it?

Take some time to look and feel around your home.

What would you do if it was taken away tomorrow?

Why now enjoy it today.

Make it yours.

And then have a good time browsing around the site.

Motivate yourself, get busy.

And most of all.

Feel the love.

It's there, waiting for you.
