mommymatchday

The object of the game today is to spend some time with your kids – and to get things done.

I can’t count the times that I had ‘meant’ to spend more time with my kids as they were growing up – but the time flew by – such as March break – I got distracted handling something ‘important’ and it was gone.

Don’t let that happen to you or your kids.

Even if you match as little as 10 minutes – it can be 10 minutes that brings a smile to many faces – including your own.

And you might even make a few good memories and create some good mommy mojo while you are at it.

How to Play?

It’s easy. There aren’t many rules.

1. Discuss with your child/children what they should tackle today and for what amount of time they want to spend (this can be changed later if it turns out to be too much or too little. What ever works is my motto!)

2. Set the time in 5 minute increments.

3. For every 5 minutes spend on task – in a focused manner – the kids get to do something fun with you for 5 minutes. You can all decide what that may be so that it will be enjoyable for everyone.

It can be a walk (maybe to the store for a small treat – which can be a healthy snack as well as something else – or even something of their choice for dinner) Or a drive. Or a ride to a friends house for an older child if that’s what works for everyone.

The idea is to turn time spent on effort in helping out or looking after something at home (of their own or a ‘common’ area) into time that your children feel a connection to you and you to them in a positive manner and a time when you do things for each other.

Feel the love.

There is nothing better than the love and energy of a child – both in giving and receiving.

I miss it.

So I am heading to the library this morning to donate some wooden sticks for crafts. Want to see children energy? Take your kids to the library today or check to see what programs may be running.

The library is one of the most wonderful places for children, especially during March break.

That could be your ‘mommy match’ activity. Grab a book or movie for yourself while you are there.

The library is an amazing resource for movies too – I never pay for rentals anymore.

And we have donated most of our movies to clear the clutter – it’s win win!!

Have the most awesomely shiney day :0)
