Spring cleaning with chemical pollutants seems to defeat the purpose, but what to do? If we don’t get things clean, what’s the point?

Cleaning  green and natural can help you avoid the dangers that many chemicals in cleansers can bring into your home. If you want to get your home freshened up and looking clean, here are some simple  spring cleaning tips that are all natural.

Tip #1 – Get the Clean Smell the Natural Way

After having the house all closed up through the winter, you may want to find a way to make the house smell clean. Don’t resort to using those air fresheners that end up putting synthetic chemicals that add to indoor pollution  into the air of your home.

One of the best things you can do is to simply open windows. Doing this will bring a breath of fresh air, get rid of germs, and eliminate those stale odors.

If you want to spruce it up a bit, try using pure essential oils.

Tip #2 – Hang Items Outside

Instead of throwing curtains and towels in the dryer with softener sheets, which also include chemicals, you can get a great smell by hanging them outside.

There is nothing at bedtime like the scent of sheets hung out to dry. The fresh air will dry them for you and make them smell great so when you bring them back inside, they’ll add to the clean smell of your home. AND it won’t cost you a dime.

When my kids were young I used to LOVE hanging my clothes outside, it was one good reason to get outside in the fresh air and to stop running around long enough to think. Hanging laundry can be very therapeutic!

Tip #3 – Look for Natural Products

These days there is such a selection of green cleaning products to use if you can’t whip up something of your own that there really is no need for the harsh chemicals to be polluting our homes. They are there because people are buying them (I’m assuming). Let’s get them off the shelves!

Simply mix them up yourself.

Or look for the environmentally friendly green version if you are in need of a store bought cleaning product. In the grand scheme of things, they are worth the extra few dollars.

You can easily use these tips to spruce up your green cleaning efforts.
