Quiet the Mind. Focus the Output.
This morning I was doing my yoga – I like the show called Intimate Yoga, the host always has something interesting to say and there are a lot of muscle building poses most days, especially in the abs, can't go wrong with that!
As a side note, starting your day with an exercise routine will get the blood pumping, the oxygen flowing, make you stronger and feel more equipped to take on your day.
But I digress :0)
Today, was especially intense so I was finding myself quite focused.
When we were finished, the teacher said, 'Has your mind been quiet? When yoga is done with full attention, the mind doesn't have room to enter."
I gave her my full agreement on that one!
IT'S TRUE FOR EVERYTHING
And it occurred to me right away that this is true for everything, and this is a big reason why using time windows in your work day is effective.
Not only does it cut down on outside distractions, but it cuts down on inside distractions from your own mind.
When you work with focus on any project, your inner chatter takes the back seat.
Just think how much more energy that gives you and how much more you can get done.
ACTION TIP
- Try setting aside some time for your most important project today.
- Shut everything else off.
- Set your timer.
- Focus.
- Rinse and repeat.
- Let me know how it goes.
I think you will be pleased.
