Does Your Blog Need Recycling?

Blogging, Internet Marketing

 Blogging Ideas

It occurred to me that you may want to see the difference that a bit of guidance can make when you are creating and maintaining your own blog.

You can revive and recycle an old blog to a brand spanking new one if you know how.

The first link is to my original at home blog the second is to my present one.

Original Queen of KAOS at home blog

New Queen of KAOS at home blog

I didn't merge the two, at the time I wanted to be able to work behind the scenes until I figured out a little more what I was doing, so started fresh with the home blog.

The new one has

  • a static front page (that I will be tweaking to spotlight some of the interesting and monetized areas of my site),
  • it has a short link menu on the sidebar that shows latest posts for my most popular categories
  • as well as posts from my other two blogs,
  • a revolving ad area
  • a poll
  • the rss feed and sign up boxes are clear and accessible
  • and I have started a podcast (on this blog, I will have one on the others as well).

Not only that, I am participating in my own blogs far more frequently. If you notice the content, the old blog has good content, but it is not mine, it has a lot of guest spots on it. I have opened the door to creating good, regular content for my blog readers.

Since I've made many behind the scenes, and in front changes,

  • I have seen my traffic go up considerably
  • Some of it comes from some very impressive blogs that I have commented on
  • Been thrilled to receive a sidebar link on Clutter Control Freak, an amazing blog about everything clutter.
  • Sales are rising
  • and I really have only touched the tip of the iceburg as far as things I still can do and the course is only about half way finished!

HOW DID I DO IT?

I educated myself, and continue to do so with Yaro Starok's Blog Mastermind course and Static Blogging.

It has been an amazingly good and noticeable move for me and my blogs – all 3 of them (I also have a personal health and weightloss blog called SIZZLIN')

Would I have done it all on my own? No. I know that because I didn't. And now I do.

Unfortunately, Yaro's course is closed right now, but Alice Seba and Lynette Chandler have put together an IM Blogging Bootcamp.

I can't take it, because I am committed to the one I am taking already, but if I wasn't – I would be.

I am very familiar with Alice and Lynette and many of their other courses and resources.

If you are looking for some help with your blog, help is here.

  • IM Blogging Bootcamp is 4 weeks long and will help you with your blogging efforts.
  • They offer one on one coaching with the course, and you need to "hand in" your assignment at the end of each week. That can't be beat.
  • You get accountability, knowledge and personal support.

If you take the course, I'd love to see your blog now, and again in 4 weeks!

You can get information on  it here and also grab some amazing freebies that I just posted yesterday –

  • 31 Blogging Ideas PDF
  • joint blogging audio
  • a free report about being the go to guy in your field through your blog

I really like the idea to go vertical if you have a small space and manage work/home in the same space. Check out the shot of the floor to ceiling desk!
