30 Day Challenge, Action Tips, Home Biz Tips, Time Management Tips

I have been happy to be progressing with my outlines and work schedule for a few products that I have been working on.

Last night I finalized my work circuit - the plan that I will follow every day to be sure that I follow the basic rules of order and productivity. (a few are planning, routine, scheduling, consistancy and doing it a bite at a time).

So what happens the first day? I am happily sitting at my computer as I do every morning with my new work plan in hand - 2 hours first thing - work on writing project block - which happens to be Sizzlin’ - I got the outline and all other planning stages finished over the weekend so that I’d be set to go.

Just digging in. This is going to be great!

Wrong!

My daughter comes in. Mom I need the computer to finish a french project that I didn’t get finished over the weekend. It’s due today.

I feel air quickly rushing from my balloon.

POP!

She didn’t mention a project this weekend - before she went away for 2 days with her friend. I didn’t ask.

Bad move on both our parts.

She got an education in leaving things until the last minute. Better than any lesson I could have told her about.
In fact she looked a little like me when I leave things until the last minute - rushing, stressed and snappy.

And I got a good education on what it feels like from the other side.

All in all, it was worth the missed project block. Just hope it doesn’t happen tomorrow!

(btw, as it happens, while she was working the internet connection kept disconnecting, after having a mild coronary trying to get to the bus on time, the bus driver called to let us know that she would be late today - this is what happens when you leave things until the last minute - it’s just the way it is.)

ACTION TIP

Allow yourself plenty of time. To give her credit, she did work on it Sunday afternoon and evening, it just wasn’t enough time.

I also learned a lesson in planning my project time block. Originally I had made it for 5:45 - 7:45 so that I could get 2 hours in before my kids need me in the morning.

Guess who didn’t get out of bed until 7:00 :0)

So I switched it right away and also included my other non negotiable time blocks to end at noon, rather than the 10:00 cut off that I have strived for.

I will talk about the benefits of this tomorrow. Stay tuned.
