Simplify Your Goals
Sun, Jan 4, 2009
Do you find yourself overwhelmed every year by the daunting task of writing a long list of goals.
And getting more and more frustrated and disappointed every year as you forget about them and find them on your list again next year?
How about making 2009 the Year to Streamline?
Here's how.
1 – Get Clear. Think Exodus. Get rid of everything and anything that is standing in your way. Literally. You will be amazed at how clear spaces clear the way for the good stuff. Take a load off and fly.
2 – Create a major focus for the key areas in your life. For me it's…
- Business – a Focus membership I'm creating, details will be up soon for this exciting opportunity to get in your groove for 2009 and stay there.
- Health – Fit Yummy Mummy – starting a 12 week New Years Challenge this week to get back on track.
- Home – continue to declutter, then redecorate and bug hubby to finish projects he needs to do – bet you're glad your not him!
- Family – making a point to enjoy the time I have left with my kids at home and being a good mom – yepp, that means baking cookies too. Especially baking cookies.
3. Keep it simple and action oriented. After you choose your main areas and one main focus for each, create your next action and set a time to do it.
If you can, do it right away.
If you can't, make a pact with yourself to schedule and do it. Get excited about the first step to accomplishment.
You can do it. And only you.
Unfortunately – or fortunately – no one else is going to do it for you.
TIP: Get a white board and write TODAY in big letters.
Every day write your main focus on the board. I keep one in my office where I can easily see it. Anytime I feel I am getting off track, a quick glance in that direction gets me back on.
Another one will be going in my kitchen so that I can see it when I'm in there for my home daily target.
Wanna finally get those goals accomplished, off your back and working for you?
Now you can with this simple plan.
Let us know how it goes in the comments section. Post your ideas and suggestions for your main targets this year.
We'd love to hear them!!

I like the idea of having a focus for each day. I think I will do this for myself. I have made a list of smallish goals for the year (big goals broken into smallish steps actually) but I also need to keep my eye on the things that matter outside my goals (like my job, etc.). Thanks for sharing! You’ve given me some things to think about!
I’ve got the cookie baking part down! Now to get the rest of it taken care of …
