Is Halloween Creeping You Out?
|
I was strolling down memory lane on the blog that had last year, before I moved it to the new theme and url.
I had already forgotten the shopping trip last year for my youngest daughter's costume but now I recall the search. That's the beauty of a having a blog!
As I type, she is checking out a site we just heard about at www.buycostumes.com
If she finds something reasonable, it is going to save us a lot of angst and a lot of my making suggestions that are just not cool :0)
This year my thinking is, if it saves at least one shopping trip of hassle, by having her sitting here quietly doing her own shopping, with no gas, no lunch or no extras to buy while we're at the mall, it's quite worth it.
On the other hand, I want to also have a look at the ebook below, Make Your Child's Halloween Costume. She has been interested in sewing, is always designing clothes and I am a big believer in taking advantage of a roaring creative opportunity there is in making your own halloween costumes the cheap and easy way.
What You Need
- imagination
- stuff you have around the house
- the salvation army store
- a few cheap embellishments
- possibly a few sewing skills depending on the Halloween costume you decide to make
ta da! a new halloween costume.
Here's the post I put up last year. If you'd like to check out my old blog, there are a lot of articles still there, you can see the post here…
Is Halloween Creeping Up on You?
We did quite well this year in preparing for Halloween, got a few nifty decorations up well before the day, and got costumes picked out in plenty of time due to my daughter's insistence, she's the organized one.
But I was disappointed because I had told her we where not spending a lot of money on costumes, or buying one.
So guess who comes walking out of the store with a princess ready made costume (that cost a small fortune)?
She loves it, and in some ways I'm glad that I did, but part of the problem was that I had no concrete options to give her – telling her that we can make one with a few cheap accessories doesn't cut it.
So when I came across this, I was wishing I had it before we went shopping.

One more Halloween find… I love pumpkins at Halloween, they are just plain fun.
But cutting them out can be a chore and they never look as good as these ones.
I wanted to do something special this year for Halloween as I see my kids growing older, my son isn't even trick or treating (he's 17 so it's to be expected but still…)
Anyway, why not paint some funky pumpkins?
