This morning, I slept in. I almost forgot to put out the Christmas stockings for my kids, I'm slacking!
I wanted to take a few pictures for my Make It Special – DIY Christmas eGuide for next year, as I was unloading my camera I heard my husband stir.
Then I hear an eerie dripping sound. I thought he threw up.
But then he started snoring, so I figured all was well. Until I continued to hear a dripping sound.
Then I hear it. Mo-o-o-o-o-om.
You know what that means.
Sick kid on Christmas morning.
So I went downstairs (she was sleeping on the couch waiting for Santa), cleaned up and made her as comfortable as possible. She went back to sleep, I went back to getting the stockings together.
About an hour later (I got a little sidetracked on the pictures) I went down with the Christmas stockings, sure she was sleeping by now as I hadn't heard a peep.
While I was arranging them I heard a quiet snore, thinking to myself, wheww, no problem.
Until I turned around and saw her sitting there looking at me.
I looked at her and she turns her wide open eyes on me and says… don't worry, I won't tell.
This is one of my funniest Christmas moments so far because she is the youngest one left, and she is the only one who still suspected that there "might" be a Santa Claus.
I was doing all the sneaking around for her!
Kids.
Gotta love them. Especially at Christmas time.
Thats such an adorale story and i think we can all relate because we will do anything for our kids even if it means sneaking around and pretending to be santa. I grew out of that when i was pretty young but i say kids should be kids for as long as they can.
I agree 110%!
I was just listening to something on the radio about that today. I wish that I had been able to write it down or find it online – it was basically ‘commandments’ of all the ways we (media, school systems and even parents) make kids grow up too fast these days. It’s soo true – and sad – almost criminal imho.
Being a kid is so different now, I barely can imagine what it must really be like to really be one these days.
