I think I’ve made a break through.

In all of the years that I’ve spent skullying around, cleaning this, sorting that… catching on that I needed a system and routine… really made a difference around here.

And then I started doing a weekly decluttering session, thanks to Mimi Tanner’s Declutter Fast system, that bumped me up another notch.

Then over the holidays I decided to start cleaning up after myself as I went along.

Sounds juvenile… I know… I know… I should have listened to my mother.

And then this morning when I woke up to a house that is looking pretty good if I do say so myself, I realized that I had finally hit on it.

The easy and surefire formula to wake up every day with no stress and no mess.

No, this isn’t an all inclusive, kick butt lifestyle make over, but these keys will open the door for the next step – allowing us to see clearly and move on to the next layer.

That could be anything – getting finances under control, spending more quality time with the kids, meal planning, getting caught up on appointments, fitness, going back to school, getting a job, working at home – the sky is the limit.

Clutter and mess is like a fog. It permeates our brains in a real, physical sense. It causes us stress, it distracts us.

When it’s gone, suddenly a multitude of new opportunities present themselves.

3 keys. That’s all it takes to get a step up.

That could be the best news you’ll hear all day.

Try it!

ACTION STEPS

  • Create a daily BOOST Circuit for yourself. This will be your daily routine that you will use to “comb” through your house everyday. You can read more about how to do it here – CREATE A BOOST CIRCUIT.
  • Choose a DECLUTTER DAY and schedule a time in that day once per week. It doesn’t have to be huge, it will depend on your available time and how much clutter you have to go through and get rid of.
  • Create a HABIT starting today, to pick up after yourself. Even if it sounds trivial. You may need to conciously remind yourself to do it. The important thing is to do it. If it falls down, pick it up. If you took it out, you put it away. If you messed it up, you clean it up. As soon as you are finished with it. NOT LATER as we know, later never comes.

  1. Hi Judi. At various times I’ve done each of these separately (well, maybe not the pick up after myself part so much :0) and it just doesn’t work the same, I guess it’s a good example of synchronisity.

That said, you can start by developing one of the keys at a time and build on each one as you get in the habit of the others.

I agree, the hardest part is keeping it going. I am working on a program that will help us to do exactly that.

Meantime, there is the Declutter Day free program in the links above and also I have a TAKE 5 free program as well, it’s to help us get in the habit of doing something every day, and each 5 minute task does make a difference. It’s a little like a mini BOOST Circuit.

    The subscribe info is here

  2. I really think that this would help me, but how do I get a lazy husband to adapt? I find that my biggest problem is the phrase,”I’ll do it later.” Later never comes. So I’m doing twice the work as well as tending to a small infant. I don’t think he quite understands just how hard it is for me.
