You will probably be hearing a lot about goal setting and new years resolutions coming up to the new year.

I have found over the years that these have worked for me with limited success.

They have also taken a lot of time to think about and plan and left me feeling cronically inadequate.

So what to do?

Enter ideals, major focus and simple systems.

These have worked for me.

A SIMPLE PLAN

It is very easy to create a simple 3 step plan to take the pressure off of wanting to do and knowing you should do and actually doing it.

STEP ONE: WHAT ARE YOUR IDEALS?

Take some time to think about your ideals.

What do you want to have stood for and accomplished over your lifetime. What do you want to think back with a feeling
of pride and accomplishment over rather than shame and regret?

Write them down. Try not to get too complicated.

Choose 3 – 4 primary ideals. These are going to be your starting point.

You may have a few others but keep this list to the top ideals that you would not want to sacrifice for anything.

Mine are

Peaceful home.
Happy family.
Optimal health.
Taking time to enjoy it.

This is your destination, the small list that you can create in minute and keep in front of you so that when ever you have a decision to make, be it what to do over the next 5 minutes or what job to take or place to move to.

STEP TWO: CHOOSE YOUR MAIN FOCUS

Now that you have your simple list, deciding on your main focus over the next 3 weeks will be easier.

You just need to choose one to be your major focus on within the next 3 weeks.

A good way to identify this is to ask yourself “What is my greatest hearts desire”.

And focus on that.

When you create a major focus, it is important to also create a time frame, otherwise your efforts will fizzle and often you won’t even notice.

This is because intensity is a large part of results and you just can’t maintain a high intensity over anything if you do not have a set time frame.

Don’t worry that you won’t get the rest done. You just need to be patient, maintain your system and you will be able to work on all of them over time. This is the heart of the Pulse System (no pun intended :0)

STEP THREE: CREATE A SIMPLE SYSTEM

Create a simple system to help you to stay focused on doing the things that will make fulfilling your ideals possible .

THAT’S THE PLAN

Steps one and two are very easy and you have to do them if you want to truly know what is important to you while you still
have the time to achieve and live it.

Step three can be a little harder.

  • It can be hard to find or create a simple system that works.
  • And it can be hard to stick to and work the system.

Luckily, that’s exactly what we are doing inside of the No KAOS Zone.

We will be starting the New Year by deciding on our major ideals, our major focus and creating and implementing a simple system
that works for us (and a few other things!).

If you would like that too, join us in the No KAOS Zone (link below).
