 Goal Setting at Home

DO SUCCESS RULES BELONG AT HOME?  by Jan Ferrante

Do you play by different 'success rules' at home and at work?

If you're a SAHM, do you have ANY success rules?

Don't think you need them?

Or do you think that you are too busy doing the other stuff.

That you'll get to it in a decade or two?

Think again.

One success rule can change your life.

And that's just the first step.

WHAT ARE SUCCESS RULES ANYWAY…

Success rules are simple tools - the simpler the better - that you can use to create focus in your life.

Where you fix your focus - your attention and energy - you will see results.

It's as simple as that.

SUCCESS RULES HELP US TO WEED OUT THE JUNK AND THE TIME WASTERS…

They give us the drive and energy to complete projects - because they help us to decide what we really want - and how to accomplish it.

And that is always a good thing.

Why waste our time when we can be using it to make ourselves less stressed and happy?

You may be suspecting that success rules aren't a new thing, in fact they've been around for a long time under a different name.

GOALS…

I like to call goals success rules because it is an action term. Success rules are a map you follow. Goals are something 'out there'… close… but often elusive.

Looking at the Big Picture with Major Goals - goals and success rules in the big picture are what give us satisfaction in our life, even if they are unwritten. The big news is that if you name them… and write them down… make a plan… you are far more likely to hit them and spend less time feeling tired and empty… like life is passing you by and you just can't catch it!

Minor Goals or Success Rules are the map that will get you there - Want to be healthy and loose a few pounds? That's your major goal or success rule. Your minor goals and success rules will be to do what it takes in the small picture…

  • have an exercise plan
  • eat healthy - stop eating dead food and replace it with fruits and veggies - plan your meals.
  • drink 2 full water bottles per day - put them in the fridge every night, take one out first thing in the morning.

Want a clean house that you can function and enjoy your family in and they can enjoy you? You guessed it…

The funny thing is that often we have firm goals or success rules in our working life, but assume that they will take care of themselves at home.

This couldn't be farther from the truth. Our home goals are the ones that we carry with us everyday. Either as joy in a life well lived - or as sorrow in a life falling short.

Sometimes it seems hopeless.

But the fix is easier than we realize. Set a few clear goals - we already usually know what our important goals are, but putting them down on paper and making a plan… our success rules… can make the difference between doing them and not.

ACTION TIPS

  • choose one major goal that you'd like to achieve in your life.
  • Plan what you need to start doing - and stop doing on an ongoing basis to accomplish it. These are your success rules.
  • Achieve it. On day at a time.
  • Memorize this formula…

DESIRE, FOCUS, REPETITION, SELF DISCIPLINE AND TENACITY = SUCCESS

It’s Your Day to Shine
