I discovered this game one evening when I was trying to motivate my 13 year old daughter to clean her room. Since I was doing dishes that I didn’t particularly want to do we agreed to both do 20 minutes.

You can do this one if you have kids old enough to help out or a significant other – or anyone else for that matter who will join you in the game.

You can work on the same area or task together, or you can set the timer and go each to your own task.

You can even do this game with a friend or family member – you can do it at your place and he/she can do it at hers – prearrange a time or a cut off and check in with each other.

Or you can both do 20 minutes at your house and then both of you can move onto the others house. It could be a great way to get some help on something you don’t know how to do or need a hand with.

This can be kind of fun and really takes ‘going for coffee’ up a few notches.

Why not make it a regular ‘play’ date! The kids will love the chance to visit and you can move ahead and enjoy a visit as well.

There are many ways that you can mix it up – if you have young kids and would like to play it with them you can shorten the time to just 5 or 10 minutes. Or if you are doing the 20 minutes match with a friend you can do two rounds during your visit.

DON’T FORGET THE PRIZE!

If you are doing it with younger kids in particular although it might be a great surprise for older ones too, why not go all the way and add a treat or reward of some kind at the end? It could be anything, doesn’t have to be big. Even a story with mom or a walk (to the park if you’ve got one!).

Mix it up to suit yourself and have a little fun.
