WHY THE DYSON ANIMAL?

I was at my wits end with animal hair and dirt around our house so when our vacuum cleaner bit the dust for the last time, I decided to invest in a good the best vacuum cleaner that I could find.

After doing a bit of searching around the web I saw a lot of people mentioning the Dyson Animal. It sounded perfect to me.

IT HAD TO HAVE AWESOME CLEANING POWER

My number one requirement was of course that it worked – that it had good amazing suction power to pick up all the dirt and hair – and it did. It effortlessly filled up the entire cannister with dirt off our carpet the first time we vacuumed it. That doesn’t say much for the state of our carpet but it does say a lot for the Dyson Animal Cyclone.

I have never seen a vacuum cleaner suck up the entire carpet like that! I had to use both hands and plant my feet to move it at first! But I also had a few other specifications.

LOOOONG FLEXIBLE PLASTIC HOSE

I was finished with cheap hoses that cracked and didn’t stretch far enough. TaDa! The Dyson Animal has an amazing hose that will stretch up a complete set of stairs so you can leave the vacuum cleaner at the bottom and work your way up without having to lug it on the stairs with you. I like the safety aspect of that too.

WARNING: Do not leave your vacuum sitting on the landing of your stairs. I did that one day and my son immediately came upon it and tripped over the chord, flying through the air and landing flat on his face on the basement floor. I could easily have made a chalk outline of him, he called me specifically to see how he landed – it was kind of comical but it taught me the lesson.

Luckily the landing I had it on was only 3 stairs up. Had it been the top stairs…

So learn from my mistake and never leave any vacuum cleaner sitting at the top of stairs. You know someone is bound to trip over it! Even if it’s only minutes. Especially if it’s only minutes!

They call it Telescope Reach – basically that means it has a looooong hose which is also the soft plastic kind that doesn’t crack – my vacuum hose dream come true.

LONG ELECTRIC CHORD

Unexpected Bonus – Coupled with it’s really long electric chord means that you don’t have to continually be switching sockets. Depending on the size of your house or where your sockets are placed it could be possible to vacuum the whole thing without ever needing to move it.

BAGLESS DUST BIN AND WASHABLE HEPA FILTER

The other thing that I really wanted was a bagless dust (and hair) bin instead of disposable bags. That is cost effective and over time will save lots of money as well as landfill.

They call it a quick trigger and it is. It can be removed with the push of a button (which I managed to cut off in the picture) which saves a lot of frustration and fooling around. When it’s off you just push another button and the bottom swings down and dumps the dirt right into the garbage.

Also the filter is washable as well AND it’s HEPA.

ONE MORE THING

It has got the best system by far that I’ve ever seen for getting things unplugged from the hose, which barely ever happens because it isn’t designed with tiny openings that catch everything bigger than a dime.

But if it does, there are various little ‘trap doors’ that can be opened to remove the object quickly with minimal grumbling and foot stomping – matter of fact, a slight rolling of the eyes is all it usually gets from me, if that should something get stuck.

THE COLOUR PURPLE

Yeah! It’s really purple!

I LOVE purple. It’s a nice shade too. I real joy to use and have around as my luverly assistants are so graciously demonstrating :0)

LOTS OF ATTACHMENTS

It comes with all of the standard attachments but my favourite is the small power head especially for furniture and upholstery.

That little baby will take hair off of your dog if you’re not careful with it! (ok, I’ve never actually tried it, the dog runs when she sees me coming with it)
