I have found that once I hit a certain point, it is well worth the time to refresh and regroup. How much more effective would we be if we scheduled this “regular maintenance” instead of waiting until we “need” it?
I am not big on going out, but I find that giving myself a manicure or a facial really makes me feel better.

I always find it very easy to see where other people are going wrong… or right… with time management skills, especially my kids :0)
So this morning it was quite easy to make an observation, especially since it isn’t the first time, in fact, it’s a regular thing.
My daughter begged and pleaded for her own small dog for years, so against my better judgement (why don’t I listen!) when one became available, I caved.
The dog has been a huge load (in more ways than one!) so one of her jobs is to take her out in the morning. Every morning, I tell her do it first, or the dog barks and goes on her paper in her crate, which for some reason is beside MY bed, and gets her bedding messed up, which “I” end up washing.
So today she again left it until later in the morning. By the time she was finished, she had to come in and rush to eat her breakfast, and the dog didn’t go anyway, because she already went!

It’s funny how taking a minute to think about the main purpose of what ever you are doing, and the outcome you would like to see, can make a huge difference in how you do something, and the outcome and usefullness of it.
By making a small distinction between a “junk” drawer, which is also giving it a negative label, making you more likely to use it that way, and a “help” drawer, you have completely changed the purpose of the drawer with the smallest shift of mind.
Really, do you want a JUNK drawer?
Not likely, who wants to keep junk? Or do you want a HELP drawer, something that you can use to quickly locate miscellanious items of use to you, without having to sort through the JUNK? I vote for a HELP drawer!

I have been finding parenting my teenage son to be a bigger challenge now than when he was younger - since he’s older, my “no” response seems to need some polishing - he is responsible, he’s a good kid and I’m very proud of him, but kids just do foolish things - all in fun - and I can’t say for sure that he isn’t one of them!
So what to do?
An example of the seriousness of this issue is driving.

We did quite well this year in preparing for Halloween, got a few nifty decorations up well before the day, and got costumes picked out in plenty of time due to my daughter’s insistence, she’s the organized one.
But I was disappointed because I had told her we where not spending a lot of money on costumes, or buying one. So guess who comes walking out of the store with a princess ready made costume (that cost a small fortune)?
She loves it, and in some ways I’m glad that I did, but part of the problem was that I had no concrete options to give her - telling her that we can make one with a few cheap accessories doesn’t cut it.
So when I came across this, I was wishing I had it before we went shopping. If you haven’t yet, or are in need of some last minute ideas, check it out - Make Your Child’s Halloween Costume - over 90 costume ideas…

My fridge is also a challenge for me, since I started planning meals, it has been easier, but it still falls through the cracks sometimes.
My husband is gone away to work quite a lot, then home for a week or two at a time. During one of his “home times” I had bought a bottle of juice that I use to perk up my water bottle but I didn’t realize that it was sweetened with aspartame.
Not only do I not like to drink it, I really don’t like the taste of it, so I told everyone to drink that one and then forgot about it (they don’t mind it and I didn’t think one bottle between them all would hurt).
Wouldn’t you know it, it gets shuffled to the back of the fridge and left there, can you guess what is coming?

This Saturday, I am happy to say that I will be finishing up my office supplies closet, finally.
It was a big project, but so worth it. I got rid of so much stuff I feel 100lbs lighter.
I also have been able to move a few things into the closet that I was keeping around my office, so it’s freed up some space here.
I will post a picture later today, just wanted to get this off to you now so that you would have the day to fit in a bit of declutter time.
Remember, if you’d like to keep up 5 minutes per day through the week, you can sign up for our Take 5, Bootcamp for Dustbunnies, it only takes 5 minutes!

These days debt seems to come creeping from every direction.
Part of it is because it has become more socially acceptable to be in debt and use credit like cash, part of it is the rising costs, it has become ridiculously expensive to put gas in your car and cover basic needs such as dental, health, eye care and almost any thing requiring a skilled service.
Very often the solution takes some thinking instead of immediate action. Before whipping out your credit card, consider your options.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. That’s how life gets sooner or later if you don’t pay attention to what Aurelia is saying below. It does take effort, which in some ways seems to be the complete opposite, but in the end, it is far worth the effort.
I find that trying to remember the real reason behind it all, to live and be happy, helps me to keep the 3 F’s in mind.
By: Aurelia Williams
You are probably wondering what in the heck the 3 F’s are. Well they are Fun, Fulfillment and Freedom! It is very important to incorporate these 3 F’s into our day

Make that leaving soon!
I am chomping at the bit here to get my paper work decluttered and my file system back in order (keyword there is “back” in order, it was functioning wonderfully and I let it slide - my bad!!)
If you have done something similar or have not been able to put together a file system for your paperwork in the first place, stay tuned.
Meantime, if you want to gear up and get ready, the best thing you can do is get the papers off of your desk.
It will increase your productivity and you will be ready to file.
