Make a Personal Recipe Binder

A personal recipe binder can be one of the most treasured items in your kitchen. For one thing, it is a database of all of your family favourites.

It can also be an heirloom, both from past generations as you collect old family favourites that have been passed down, they will be precious some day, and as an heirloom for your kids. They will love to have it, and even use it when they have their own family to feed.

You can really gussy it up with family photos and use some of the amazing scrapbooking supplies available these days.

Taking It Easy To Start - Hamburger Parmesan

I’ve brainstormed a bit with the kids as to what they like to eat, made a list of possible meals for this week, and filled in dinner and breakfast for the rest of the week.

It’s my daughter’s birthday on Sat, as well as her papa’s (my husbands dad) so we are going there for supper, no planning that day for dinner!

Getting Started with the Meal Planning White BoardSo my white board looks a little sparse, but I’m quite pleased with it, especially since I was able to keep to my plan for supper today, even though I just made about an hour ahead of time.

Piece of cake! (that’s on the list :0)

First Day with Meal Time, On Time

I finally got tired of having to scrounge through the cupboard at mealtime.

I have been working hard on providing menu planning products, including a new ebook that I decided to give a go called Meal Time, On Time.

Starting a Meal PlanI am having a lot of fun with it so far. I am not new to menu planning, but have already started some very good habits suggested in this book.

This calender white board is one of them.

Save On Groceries

My theme for this months seems to be to save on groceries and hydro, both bills in our family are so over the top that I still don’t quite believe what we are paying.

I used to be such a good grocery shopper that I could tell you to the penny what almost anything in the store cost, but that was back when the prices where on the cans. Now it is so much harder as you don’t get the reinforcement of knowing the price when you take it out of your cupboard, or to compare one store from the other quite easily by looking on your own shelves.

So I have started to seriously once again shop the flyers and search out coupons. I am convinced that by applying myself to this and my garden, there is substantial money to be saved. That is all money that my husband and I don’t have to earn to cover bills. Makes good sense to me.

And I’m sure the result will be healthier eating therefore better health and energy as well. Good deal!

Strawberry Time!

It’s strawberry time already, one family tradition that we have managed to uphold through out the years. And I must say, it keeps getting easier!

If you don’t go pick strawberries, or at least go buy a bunch to freeze for the year at your nearest strawberry farm, you really should put it on your list of things to do, this year and every year.

It is fun, makes a memory, and provides some of the most nutritious food you will be able to provide your family with over the coming year.

We usually get about 16 baskets, some years we have bought them picked, this year everyone was home and the kids are getting old enough to pick faster than my husband and I, so we where finished in under an hour.
