Keeping a clean house can seem to be an impossible task some days. Too many of these days can start to wear not only on our house, but on our state of mind too. And that of our family.
When I finally found myself getting “on top” of the piles and constant struggle to keep the mess away, I realized that the reason I was able to do it was one thing - CONSISTANT ACTION.
ACTION IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS
I’ll say it again!
I took this fun quiz that I found on My Angel’s from Heaven and Me blog, called Are You Messy? If you want to take it, you can click the link below. Some questions aren’t completely clear cut, at the moment I have laundry, clean but not put away, and there is no option for that, but who’s counting :0)
I wonder what it says if you are REALLY messy. Let me know if you find out.
You Are a Little Messy |
![]() You aren’t the cleanest person in the world, but you’re definitely not a slob. You clean up when you have the time, but you’re realistic about what you can get done. |
I continually am amazed at the power the timer gives me to get motivated to do things.
When I have let my house get out of control and overwhelm sets in, I can promise myself “only 10 minutes” and that gives me the energy to tackle “the pile” which always looks better 10 minutes later.
When it is under control, 10 minutes keeps it that way and allows me not to put it off - what’s 10 minutes?
So what’s better than 10 minutes?
5 minutes!
Well, it’s a few days into the summer holidays and I am sick of doing dishes already. Are you?
I pulled out the heavy artillery. (happy to report there where no casualties!)

Do you sometimes find yourself in a state of “housework overwhelm”? I know I do.
For some real life tips on how to deal with it, you can see the new article I wrote after one of “those days” at this page
How to Deal With Housework Overwhelm - 5 minutes better than it was
Just in time for the weekend. Maybe you can find a few minutes to “make it better” and then enjoy it!
Today I was hanging laundry on the line. It was a spectacularly beautiful day, bright and breezy, when I bent over to get more clothes out of the basket I felt the heat of the sun.
So I thought I’d post this reminder to any of you who are using a clothes dryer instead of a clothes line. You are not only missing out on FREE LAUNDRY, another immensly satisfying part of the process, you are missing out on some really luxurious moments in the great outdoors.
I remember when my kids where all quite small, it was my “breathe of fresh air”. Of course I never got finished without being interupted, but hanging out the laundry and taking it in was still a bright point in my day. I remember I used to savour the moments and fold it when I took it off the line.
