Mommy Guilt No More!

By: Aurelia Williams

Do you ever feel guilty when you buy yourself a two dollar bottle of nail polish? How about when you take the long way home from a quick ride to the store just to get some extra quiet time, and when you get home the kids ask, “what took you so long?” does this make you feel like you did something wrong? I am here to tell you that you shouldn’t feel an ounce of guilt!

Moms always seem to give, give, and give some more until we’re running on empty. The truth of the matter is; if you don’t take time to yourself on a regular basis, you’re going to end up feeling deprived and downright exhausted. What good are you to yourself, friends and your family if you’re too tired and irritable to do the things you need to do each day?

Here are a few tips to help you overcome feeling guilty for setting aside time for yourself:

Reduce Your Stress: Your Children are Waiting!

By: Aurelia Williams

Mothers are expected to possess huge hearts, big shoulders, a minimum of 3 hands, all the answers and the list goes on! What many mothers forget is they are not born with super hero powers to handle all of those things at once.

Mom=Stress. It’s a fact of life. Reducing stress is of the utmost importance to everyone, but especially mothers.

You know stress can lead to depression, heart disease, and an unhealthy mom. Did you also know your stress, if not handled correctly, can have a negative impact on your children too?

The most important things in a mother’s life, her children, are also the most influential. Children are sponges and everything Mom does they will, at some point in time in their lives, mimic. If children see their mother constantly stressed out, they will be more inclined to follow those patterns. What you do today can determine the kind of life your child will lead tomorrow, including how you make it a point to reduce stressful situations.

Who Said Moms Aren’t Sexy!? - It Just Takes 5 Minutes!

It all starts with you, baby :0)

The truth is that when you feel pulled together things around you are more likely to be pulled together too.

And it doesn’t take as long as you might think.  And I am going to try to follow my own advice and that in the article, my daughter told me I should go on what not to wear today, and I should! I’m the baggie clothes queen!  That’s not sexy! (there is for a legitimate reason though, I can’t stand binding clothes anymore if I don’t have to wear them, I don’t know why. Maybe there’s a word for it? Middle age?) - Jan Ferrante

Who Said Moms Aren’t Sexy!? - It Just Takes 5 Minutes! By: Aurelia Williams

Whether you are a stay at home mom, work at home mom or a mom that works outside of the home, between running the kids to and from activities, making dinner, and doing loads of laundry, few moms have time to pamper themselves. Suddenly, its been six weeks since you’ve shaved your legs, your hair has absolutely no style, and you feel as desirable as a cockroach at the dinner table. There’s just no way you can take time for yourself, especially enough time to make yourself feel sexy and alive again, right? Well, you may not be able to spend a week at the spa, but there are plenty of five minute tricks that can make you look good. After all, sometimes, knowing that you look good is the key to feeling great.

Time Saving Tips For Busy Moms

By: Aurelia Williams

It is no surprise that moms feel overwhelmed when they try to fit everything into their busy days. After all, few single people can manage to juggle work, home life, and fun successfully. On top of these responsibilities, moms add car pool duty, cupcake emergencies, and last minute science projects to their to do lists. So, how do moms manage to fit all of those tasks into their lives and still keep their sanity without resorting to cloning?

First, you may want to consider making a list of tasks that need to be completed. Then, take a hard look at that list for anything that could be simplified or eliminated. For example, do your children really need home baked cupcakes for the school party? The bakery up the street will be happy to box up 24 cupcakes and have them ready for you to pick up the next morning, saving you at least a half hour.

Next, look for tasks that really take a lot of your time, but could be done by someone else. If your children are too young to help walk the dog, you may want to consider hiring a dog walker to give your pooch his daily exercise. Errand services are also a great time saver. You can have your errand service shop for back to school supplies, pick up groceries, or get the dry cleaning. A maid service can come in once a week to do some heavy duty cleaning.

Well Balanced Moms Have More Fun

I have found that once I hit a certain point, it is well worth the time to refresh and regroup.  How much more effective would we be if we scheduled this “regular maintenance” instead of waiting until we “need” it?

I am not big on going out, but I find that giving myself a manicure or a facial really makes me feel better.

Have You Had Your 3 F’s Today?

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.  That’s how life gets sooner or later if you don’t pay attention to what Aurelia is saying below. It does take effort, which in some ways seems to be the complete opposite, but in the end, it is far worth the effort.

I find that trying to remember the real reason behind it all, to live and be happy, helps me to keep the 3 F’s in mind.

By: Aurelia Williams

You are probably wondering what in the heck the 3 F’s are. Well they are Fun, Fulfillment and Freedom! It is very important to incorporate these 3 F’s into our day

What in the Heck Can a Personal Coach Do?

I was editing a lesson for my Time Management for Mom’s ecourse and while I was writing, I realized that sometimes we can have some pretty major obstacles in the way of our accomplishing our goals and aspirations.

I realized that sometimes to get over the hump, we really need some outside insight, and the first person who came to my mind was a fellow mom and life coach, Aurelia Williams. I’ve heard her speak and found her to be very authentic as well as genuinely concerned with the topic at hand, what ever it may be.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, she may be just the person you are looking for to get that leg up.

Stress Less!

Stress is one of the number one factors in aging and good health.

Although stress can feel like a “concept”, because you can’t really see it, you sure can feel it, and over time it will wear your body down similar to rain water on rock - they don’t call it ancient chinese water torture for nothing!

Try it sometime, lie down, put a cloth over your eyes and get someone to drop water, drop by drop on your forhead, it doesn’t take long before your crying Uncle!

That is the way stress works, even if you think you are handling it, it is slowly wearing you away, taking a very big toll on your health , quality of life and longevity.

Stress Management Tips for Moms

My favourite stress management stategies are to go for a walk or exercise - that works the best, if I’m stressed because I’m tired - that is something to watch out for, I will go to bed early and read, or just take 1/2 hour reading break during the day or have a 20 minute nap.

Or I will have a relaxing “pamper me” bath - the works is best - candle light after dark, something to read and lots of nice bath stuff. I used to do it often with wine as well before I had kids, now it’s more often with whine :0)) Just kidding, my kids are past that stage - mostly.

Of course, if you kids are younger, you may have to trade off with a mom or call your mom! Or take full advantage of nap time (except that it is usually “those day’s” that they decide to skip the nap, isn’t it?)

Positive Ways to Deal With Anger

Anger management is a life skill that we can use our whole life through.

Mastering it can mean a better life for ourselves and for our children.

Being a good example to them will help them to instil these habits themselves, and to benefit by growing to their best potential without anger, both on the giving and recieving end, stunting their emotional growth.

Choose the method below that best suits you and the next time you feel a temper tantrum coming on (yours or your childs!), try it.
