Just Do It - Avoiding Procrastination

queenofkaoshomeyellow149.jpgI am an analyzer by nature so procrastination comes easy (these days the “in” thing is planning, which is good, but you have to make sure at some point you switch to the DOING portion of the program!)

It got me thinking that maybe I spend too much time thinking about what I am going to do rather than doing it.

Some reasons for this are overwhelm, too many small things getting in the way (that is where planning and prioritizing come in) What can I get rid of (ask your self that :0)

Must Read Mother’s Day Story - you will never look at chap stick the same again

I received this in my email from my MIL this morning.

Subject: A touching Mothers’ Day Tribute *

We had this 10 year old cat named Jack who just recently died. Jack was a great cat and the kids would carry him around and sit on him and nothing ever bothered him. He used to hang out and nap all day long on this mat in our bathroom.

Mother’s Day Ideas for Older Kids

Mother’s Day Ideas for Older Kids

Whether it’s a box of candy, a bouquet of flowers, or a handmade craft, moms everywhere appreciate and enjoy whatever their kids give them for Mother’s Day. Here are some ideas older children can do for and give to Mom to make the day special.

If your child has some money available to purchase Mom a gift, they can:

Mother’s Day Ideas for Young Children

MOTHER’S DAY IDEAS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN

As Mother’s Day approaches, children all want to show their moms how special they are by giving them gifts and crafts.

There are lots of Mother’s Day ideas for younger kids to become involved in, and they don’t have to cost a lot to be of worth. The younger the child, the more actively involved another adult will need to be to help make the day exceptional for Mom & kids.

Spending quality time with your child is important. This builds memories and makes them know how important they are to you. (as a mom of older kids, I realize more and more how important and fleeting an opportunity it is every day)

One good idea is to read together. Make a trip to the local library together to find books about moms. One great mommy book is Robert Munsch’s “Love You Forever”. (Don’t forget to grab yourself some Kleenex!) note: I will love Robert Munsch books for ever, Robert Munsch Rules! :0)

Beautify Your Home, Beautify Your Life

I have talked a lot about the importance of weeding the clutter and junk, it really is the first step.  Moving things from one place to another in your home is just a lesson in futility and frustration, and it never looks better anyway!

Physically removing things that are in your way will give you a sense of mental as well as physical relief. As it turns out, less really is more.

That’s no secret.

The next step is what we’ve all been waiting for - beautification!

Theme for this week - pick a room or floor

I find that if I can choose a room or floor to concentrate on each week, it really helps to keep me focused and motivated when I have a spare minute to do a thing or two, or gives me a place to focus concentrated effort on for larger chunks of time.

Guess what.

Focused, consistant chunks of time = progress and completion.

And that = happy mom and family!

So, especially being Easter weekend, in some ways it will be busier, but some of you may have a little extra time, is there a room, area or floor of your house that you would like to “make a project” this week.

The Big Cookie Lesson

My husband came home on Friday and we where all sitting around watching a movie.

He got the munchies and said that there would be something “mysterious” ready in 15 minutes.

15 minutes later he comes down with home made oatmeal/chocolate cookies for us all - it was one big cookie cut into 4.

I’m eating my cookie marvelling at his obvious talent to whip up a batch of REALLY GOOD oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies in about 10 minutes minus cooking time. And thinking, if he can do it, why can’t I do that?

It was so good, and I was so amazed, I had to ask.

What recipe did you use? I was just waiting for him to say that he made it up in his head, he’s like that. (the results vary!)

Do You Have a Stone In Your Toe?

I couldn’t believe my eyes this morning when I woke up and remembered that I had meant to look at my toe yesterday because it was irritating me.

I kept thinking I was going to do it, then got on to something else and never did.

So, when I woke up, it immediately started bugging me again, so I had a peak.

I had a very small piece of stone between my toe, no wonder it was bugging me! And I slept with it, all night!

It immediately made me question how many other “stones I have between my toes” in my life. And how many I’ve been pulling over-nighters with.
