It is very hard as a mom among “KAOS” to get a moment to relax - or to even take the noise down a few decibals.
Sometimes when we are out and I get back needing “a momentâ€, I just put the seat back in our van and stay put while everyone else goes in the house.
Of course your kids have to be old enough to be ok with that, but if they are, it’s a nice break.
I also frequent my “van oasis” when it’s a nice day but cool. I’m a heat monger so I like soak up the solar heat from the windows in the van while digging into a good book, or sometimes I write or do what ever - even a catnap!
So far I have resisted the urge to move in, but some days…
What is your favourite oasis?
PS - If you are looking for a parenting approach that comes from the idea of looking after yourself first, so that you have more to give (a concept that I don’t think anyone would disagree with, it’s the practical application that is the challenge!), try Mom Has Fun,
The author, Nicole MacKenzie has a husband and 6 kids of her own to practice on.
“She teaches classes internationally on how to establish a working team relationship between parents and their children based on curiosity, fun, and peak performance. and shares her tried and true methods with us.”
It’s not only great for mom, but it’s great for kids and families too.
