I think it was better before!
Which brings us to the subject of boundaries (or lack of), setting your “bar” and setting your self up for success.
The situation you are seeing to the side is a result of…
- poor boundaries… I have not been strict enough with the kitties obviously. They did this in about 1 hour or less during a spurt of bounce off the ceiling and walls kitty play.
- setting my “bar” (or not)… ok, this picture does not represent “my bar” (ingrained standards) but it does represent the “kitty bar”, which is ruling at the time this picture was taken… see boundaries.
- setting myself up for success… the real story behind this picture is that once upon a time I had a female cat who lived in my house for 5 years without ever once venturing outside. Then one day she spied an open window, jumped out and didn’t come back for about 3 months - along with a wide load of 4 kittens.
So, the moral is, I should have seen this one coming and gotten her spayed in the first place - just in case. So now I have to get 5 of them done!
And then I can put them outside!
Action Tip
If you are having a problem keeping your house decluttered, or a specific area, examine your boundaries, your standards (are you letting them go in the “fog” of overwhelm?) and ask what you are doing to set yourself up for success.
It sounds stuffy and technical, but it is quite simple if you put a real life label on it and then take some action. Start with one thing and see what you can do!
Watch for what happened next!
BTW, did you pick a few spots for the “make it better challenge” last week? I didn’t get all of mine finished, but I did see a marked difference in a few areas of our house. A great improvement all around.
I am going to continue until I get them all finished, a little at a time as I can.
Why don’t you do the same? Just jump in right now.
