As I mentioned before, I spend last week decluttering and basically getting everything possible, “out of my face”.
I’ve done very well, but looking around, I still need to go on to the next level, dig a little deeper - literally. There are spaces that I didn’t get to that need more work, and some that need refining.
I like to call it combing, it really does feel like combing through knots to get things straightened out. The picture above is one of the spots that need work. There isn’t a lot there, but as you can see, there are things that don’t belong, there are things that can use some sprucing up and general wipe down (and sticker relocation!) I am choosing this spot to start because I don’t have much time today, since it should be quick I will also see an improvement fast. That’s a good way to get yourself going for the bigger things.
Anyway, last week considering the fact that I lost quite a bit of time on unexpected things - familiar story! - I did quite well so I’d like to give it another shot this week to end next Tuesday, I like to include the weekend as that is my house focus time anyway - during the week my DIY natural skin care biz takes a lot of my focus.
I won’t be able to spend quite as much time on it this week, but I found that the true reason for my success last week was both focus - I had a mission and end result (very important) that was clear in my head - and I acted on it because I had a set time limit - also very important.
So if you would like to join me this week in focusing on getting the junk out, by the end of the week you will probably find yourself one step up and less stressed.
I am going to try to post on my progress and any tips every day.
The first tip that I have, I did it yesterday and found it quite surprising is to get out your digital camera if you have one and take some pictures.
Pick the spots that you would like to “fix”.
I was quite surprised to still have so many after all the progress I had already made, this is partly why the pictures work so well, they allow you to see things through new eyes.
If you don’t have a camera, just go around and note of the areas you would like to clear.
If you are starting with step one and have bigger areas, you can choose one and work on it first.
Just be sure to do at least some each day, and keep the end in mind - make it better. Create a beautiful, clear spot that will make you feel good just looking at it. And you might even be able to use it!
And remember, have fun!
Your alive. Enjoy it.
the reward.
