Although I could spend some more time finishing up a few decluttering projects, I am going to spend some time today decluttering with Christmas in mind.
Where are we putting the tree? Maybe a nice Christmas display? Maybe wash some windows if it isn’t too cold, for some window decorations.
I have always been the original scrooge at Christmas (except when I was a kid!) It usually has just been all too much.
But this year I can already see a difference. I am actually looking forward to the fun of decorating and even gift giving.
Why? For one reason, the house is for the most part looking pretty good, so it will be much easier to actually decorate.
Another reason is that I prepared last year when I put the decorations away. I know that I have a well organized stash of decorations with a theme! I bought some new ones and got rid of a lot of garbagy ones.
And I am starting early. Today I am preparing.
How about you?
If Christmas is usually a struggle for you and you want to be happy, and make it good for your kids, why not start now too?
Just take a little bit of time today to either make some plans for decorating and declutter accordingly, do some cupboards if you usually have to cook a large meal - prep the kitchen now, maybe even make a small place to put any Christmas things you are going to need - and lock it!
Or start sorting through your decorations, getting rid of anything you don’t love, and get a few new ones that you do.
If you can choose a theme or colours, all the better.
And remember, you can make some great ones too. Keep that in mind as you plan your decorations.
