 Tidy Desk

I personally am a huge advocate of keeping a tidy desk. If my desk is muddled, my head is muddled.

If my head is muddled, everything is muddled!

So I was thrilled to receive this fantastic article from Marcia Francois - 5 Steps to a Tidy Desk.

The Spiral of Success - A Step Beyond Single Minded Focus Podcast #9

May 8th, 2008 · No Comments

WAHM in Focus Podcast

We've been discussing how using single minded focus can help us at the core level to produce quality output and maximum productivity in what ever area that we apply it to.

Since we don't live in a bubble and the world doesn't stop for us as we immerse ourselves into our time pockets and monthly or weekly themes, we also need to consciously work on maintaining the progress that we have made inside of our themes and so that our progress doesn't fall to the wayside as we rotate into a new quadrant or theme.

We need to bring it into the big picture.

The Spiral of Success - A Step Beyond Single Minded Focus Podcast Transcript #9

 Spriral of Success

Last week we talked about how using single minded focus results in greater productivity and less stress.

This week we will discuss how to use what I like to call the 'spiral of success' to plug our focused time pockets into a bigger picture.

I first became aware of this phenomena through Mark Joiner in his free Simpleology 101 course (I highly recommend it), in what he calls the band of excellence.

 Question

While planning some upgrades to the Queen of KAOS blog design, I wanted to add a few new features to make it more user friendly.

In the process I had a look around at other themes but before taking the plunge, I thought I'd see if I could get some opinions from those of you who have been reading the blog to see what YOU think.

The new design is at http://flashnews.premiumnewstheme.com/

The Power of Single Minded Focus - WAHM in Focus Podcast #8 Transcript

 Single Minded Project Focus

There is nothing like focusing on one task and one task only to completion to get good, targeted work finished.

Multi tasking was popular but I see it's popularity dwindling as people are finding themselves unfocused, stressed and dropping too many balls as they simply have too much going on.

Multi tasking is not the magic pill that we once thought it was, and it's one of the causes of burn out and ill health.

It comes to some people more naturally than others, but in almost all cases – any project requiring concentration and quality work is better done with single focus.

Using Themes for Improved Productivity Podcast Transcript #7

 Using Themes for Productivity

This month I stumbled upon a method that is really increasing my focus and allowing me to improve productivity in important aspects of my business rather than surf the internet or getting sidetracked from the big picture.

Every day I have been focused on doing at least one monetizing or "step up" activity- an activity that builds on projects and content that I already have in place.

Next month I have product development lined up and the month after, marketing.

Organizing Paperwork

April 12th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I find this to be a continual thorn in my side, although with a little self discipline and a system, it really doesn't have to be.

In fact, it is so much easier to just stick with a program for this stuff than it is to look for things, lose things, redo things and spend days on end organizing and sorting when it finally gets to the point that you are forced to do it… think tax time - actually, I'd rather not!

Two methods that I have started using that are working wonders for me is having a file folder box on the floor close to my desk that contains a tickler file system.

Also a basket for my copy of invoices out to customers that sits beside my printer. (I keep a folder for reciepts on bills that I have paid in the same file box as the tickler files).  I try to clear this basket weekly by transferring the invoices into a binder that I have sectioned off by month for invoices only, a separate binder for each year.
