Surviving Summer – How Are You Doing?

Working At Home With Kids

We are about half way through this year although I think my kids go back to school a wee touch earlier this year.

That is rather unfortunate since July was spent inside watching torrential downpours.

August and September are supposed to be better.

It's at times like these I am so glad to be working at home. I'll be here to enjoy it!

what I've been working on

During the summer I make it a point to have a looser schedule so that I don't have to continually be telling the kids to wait until I'm finished this, or wait till I'm finished that so that I can give them my full attention.

It can get tiresome after awhile and I figure there will always be lots to do come September when they are back at school. I have learned from years past to make time to enjoy them first.

In amongst it all, I've been spending my 'free time' concentrating on getting a tool ready that you are going to be able to use to step up your productivity and cut out all the noise and distractions that keep you from accomplishing what you want to in your business.

I've been taking it for a test drive and found it increasing my focus and output on the things I really have been wanting to do from the first day.

That should be ready for you early September if not sooner.

I've also been working on a brand spanking new WAHM in Focus series coming soon.

picking up the pace here

I thought it would be a great time to pick up the pace here with some guest posts that I've done over the past year.

For the next week or so I'll be sending you out a new link to one of my favourite guest posts about working at home and various ways that we can get our work done faster, better or at the very least – have more fun doing it.

The first one coming up is a tongue in cheek article (sort of) about Surviving Summer Working at Home.

Even if you catch it too late for holidays, I'm sure that you will find some good tips in it, or at the very least, a few smiles. Laughing

Number one thing to remember, especially right now?

Family first.

Time goes by darn quick and soon you'll look up from your desk and wonder where they all went.

The problem is that they'll probably be driving your car, or calling you to see if they can drop THEIR kids off.

Enjoy your time with them while you can, when ever you can.

It will pay off in spades as they get older and you have well adjusted happy little ones who are suddenly bigger than you.

While we're on the topic, I'm wondering…

when do your kids go back to school?

Ours usually go back after labour day weekend (beginning of Sept.) but I think they go a week early this year.

I know that the schedule in some of the US states is much different than ours.

I've created a little poll so that we can compare.
