Sticking to a Routine - Are You?
Written by Jan Ferrante on Tue, Oct 23, 2007
I’ve been doing quite well around here lately if I do say so myself, I thought I’d share with you what I think are the reasons why so that you can do them as well.
2 things mostly -
1) I am using self discipline - I don’t necessarily always WANT to do the task, but I am doing it anyway. The funny thing is that in most cases it doesn’t take that long anyway, sometimes as little as 5 minutes, and it makes a huge difference. For a little fun, choose one small task that you don’t want to do and do it, see what a difference it makes and how good you feel. You will want to do more tomorrow :0)
2) I am doing things routinely and more importantly, on a reoccuring basis. Doing it once will sometimes see a large improvement, but if you don’t keep it up, often it is avalanched again, sometimes the next day - or hour! The key is routine and consistancy - period.
A task done often in short spurts will show you far more results, and peace, than a task done in large chunks once in awhile.
I’ll go for 5 minutes any day! I’m sold!
You can get started with some 5 minute tasks that will make a difference by signing up for Take 5 Bootcamp for Dustbunnies. It’s free, and it’s fun!
What do you feel are the most important things to do consistantly a little at a time. My top 2 are doing a quick clean up in the kitchen before I go to bed or early in the evening, and giving the bathroom a quick going over as well.
The difference it makes when I get up in the morning makes it more than worth while.
How about you?
