What Would You Do?
If You Had It To Do Over?
Yesterday I was having a conversation with my husband about a few things I was finding frustrating in running my natural skin care business.
He said that he has no idea why I do it if it frustrates me so much.
And it got me thinking. Why AM I doing it?
The things that are frustrating are things that I probably wouldn't do if I had to start over.
And it hit me – I don't have to do them now either. I just need to stop and figure out what they are. And stop doing them.
DECISION MAKING MADE EASY
It just so happens that the conversation came out because I was making a few decisions for the business.
And it occurred to me that it was a really good idea to sit down and make a list of the things that I would do differently.
So I did.
It was like creating a brand new road map.
Most of the things are totally doable and will create a better business – in line with what I want for it and more focused to cater to my major target market – people who want simple choices, who are concerned with the ingredients that they use on their skin and who want to keep the environment clean as well.
It made everything better, and it only took me about 1/2 an hour to do.
And it made the decision that I had been struggling with into a no brainer.
ACTION STEPS
- Grab a piece of paper and write on the top – "Things That I Would Do Differently If I Had It To Do Over."
The wording is important because as you can see – if you still have your business – you do have it to do over! It may take some time, but you are the boss, remember? It's your baby.
- Start writing. Everything that nags you, everything that you think you could do better, everything that could be better. Everything that you would do differently if today was Day 1.
The difference is that now you have time on your side. You have the days or years of experience, of hands on education to help you to rework your plan.
It's not just for yourself. It's for your customers, clients, readers and subscribers too – to make it the best it can be – and often that involves the things that you have learned as time has passed – the very things that you would do over.
- Give it a try right now. Just for the heck of it.
It could be one of the best things you do today.
