<p>This time around I know straight off what I need to concentrate on to take it up a notch and deflect some of the things that I found myself lacking on last time around.&nbsp;</p>
<p>It seems to be mostly in the area of what we&#39;re eating and being prepared to eat more healthy, live foods. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Also I&#39;m rested up and have taken a break, so I am raring to make the extra effort.</p>
<p><span id="more-130"></span></p>
<p>Another thing is that since this is the second round, I am starting from a level that is a notch higher than the one I did in February.</p>
<p>Everything we do builds on itself.</p>
<p>It&#39;s something that I&#39;ve been very pleased with when I find myself doing things, losing my motivation and then starting again.</p>
<p>My prior efforts always put me in a better position than if I was starting from scratch.&nbsp;</p>
<p>If you&#39;ve made some efforts, even tried the challenge before but didn&#39;t make it through, don&#39;t let that stop you.</p>
<p>Jump right back in and you&#39;ll be surprised at how fast things come back to you.</p>
<p>The past weeks I&#39;ve been sick and even before that I was finding myself slacking off here and there.</p>
<p>That did put me back but I am still much farther ahead and glad to be picking up again.</p>
<p><font color="#000066"><strong>FITNESS CHALLENGE SUCCESS TIPS OFF THE STARTING LINE FOR FIT YUMMY MUMMY SUMMER CHALLENGE</strong></font> </p>
<p><strong>1 -</strong> <strong>Got Dax Moy&#39;s <a href="http://kaos2.elimdiet.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=SIZBLGPO" target="_blank" title="Elimination Diet Cookbook">Elimination Diet and Cookbook</a>.</strong> The information in the Elimination Diet ebook is extremely valuable and it&#39;s free, I highly recommend that you grab it.</p>
<p>I went one step further and also got the cookbook yesterday. I himmed and hawed about it during the last challenge but didn&#39;t get it because I was eating clean for the most part already. But I&#39;m for some new recipe ideas and the motivation to take it a bit farther this time. And I have some catching up to do from the past weeks. Holly has set up a group inside of <a href="http://queenofkaos.com/SIZZLIN-blog/wp-admin/ClubFYM" target="_blank" title="Club FYM">Club FYM</a> to support us with the book as well.</p>
<p><strong>2 - Cleaning my cupboards and fridge and prepping my kitchen -</strong> It is essential to be prepared with good food. The first step is to make it as easy and enjoyable as possible. Preparing food in a clean and organized kitchen is the first step and the beginning of the challenge is an excellent time to do it. Cleaning and Organizing the kitchen is part of our <a href="http://www.i-shine.org/spring-cleaning-challenge.shtml" target="_blank" title="Spring Cleaning Challenge">Spring Cleaning Challenge</a>. The official challenge is closed now, since it isn&#39;t spring anymore, but you can still get the resources and join the group for some support and structure to whip your kitchen - and the rest of your house into shape. And with summer holidays in full swing, there is no better time to have your kitchen &#39;yummy ready&#39; with good food and to be one step ahead with organization decluttering. </p>
<p><strong>3 -&nbsp; Meal Planning -</strong> this is also where the Elimination Diet Cookbook comes in. I want to make some great and tasty recipes for myself and the kids this summer and could use some great ideas. Planning makes it so much easier to stay on track and eat the right things, it is sooo worth the small amount of time that it takes.</p>

<p><strong>4 - Water Filters and a new Juice Container - </strong>I don&#39;t like to drink bottled water so I use a water filter. First thing I did was to change my old one and make sure that I had a few more.</p>
<p>Also, our juice pitcher had the biscuit, so I will be getting two new ones. One for the kids when they make juice, and one for homemade iced tea or flavoured ice water. This is a new one for us. Can&#39;t wait to see how our water consumption goes up.&nbsp; Especially useful if the kids are used to drinking pop. I don&#39;t buy it anymore at all, so they only get it once in awhile when my husband brings it home. It&#39;s the first step and they will be more likely to give new ideas a try if the old stand by isn&#39;t around.</p>
<p>I do buy carbonated flavoured Perrier water for myself once in awhile for the bottles. I use them as my water bottles because they are glass. Even though I can clean them with boiling water, I like to replace them once in awhile. I use them around the house and at my desk.&nbsp; Breakage of course, is an issue if you are travelling.</p>
<p><strong>5 - Got my food diary out of the dust - </strong>I haven&#39;t been using it for awhile, and it shows! This was my number one tool to keep me on track. I include exercise and water as well. It&#39;s just a matter of writing water and exercise on the top of the page and checking it off every day. You can also use Holly&#39;s worksheets inside of her manual to stay on track.</p>
<p><strong>6- Quite buying junk food. - </strong>I&#39;ve been using up the food that we have so that we are due for a good grocery shopping. And guess what won&#39;t be in it. Junk food! My daughter&#39;s have requested this as well, so I am full and ready to jump on the opportunity. Another reason for the Elimination Diet Cookbook purchase.</p>
<p><strong>7 - Daily Walk</strong> - I&#39;m resuming my daily walk, something else I had gotten out of the habit of. A morning walk helps to pump up my results and it is such a great way to relax and get the creative juices going, I have no idea why I ever quit! It&#39;s a stunning morning here today, I am posting this article, and off I go.</p>

<p>I often find myself challenged to drink more water, especially if I have fallen out of the habit.</p>
<p>Here are a few tips that I&#39;ve found helpful.</p>
<ul>
<li>Purchase a few glass water bottles that you can keep in the fridge and sterilize once in awhile, or replace them every so often. Fill them at night so that you have them ready for the next day. Drink them. No thinking or counting involved. I have two 750ml glass Perrier bottles that I like to use. If you prefer plastic, purchase a water bottle and be sure to dump anything you haven&#39;t drank through the day every night and give it a rinse. Fill it and put it in the fridge the night before for a quick solution in the morning.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Drink flavoured water or carbonated water to get you into the habit, then slowly work up to straight water.&nbsp; I add a bit of juice, but lemon or a slice of cucumber to freshen it up is good too. I like lemon club soda as well - that&#39;s ok to use as a crutch until you are back in the swing of things, but it&#39;s not a good permanent solution because of the salt content and the carbonation can be hard on your stomach. If you are drinking fake sugar flavoured water, aim to use them to get you in the habit of drinking more water, but don&#39;t make them a permanent solution either. If you are using any additives in your water, be sure to clean your bottle daily.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Carry it with you. If you work at a desk, get it out of the fridge in the morning and take it to work and keep it at your desk (if you have more than one, you can store the other in the fridge). Get in the habit of taking a bottle with you when you travel, just be sure that you have a bathroom break scheduled somewhere along the way!</li>
</ul>

<li>Enjoy the healthy glow that you will notice almost right away, the renewed energy - water can be a better pick me up than coffee, and watch those pounds start slipping away if you are following a proper diet and exercise plan - when I am stuck, I am almost always not drinking enough water - either because I am dehydrated or eating more instead of drinking water - it makes a huge difference.</li>
</ul>
<p>It always amazes me how much more water I drink when I simply need to go to the fridge in the morning and put the bottle on my desk. It&#39;s only 9:45 and I&#39;m already over half way through my first bottle.</p>
<p> It seems that the biggest habit to get into is that one - get your water first thing and have it nearby. The rest seems to take care of itself.</p>

<p style="color: #cc3300">I stumbled upon a healthy substitute for sugar one morning while prying my eyeballs open making breakfast.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="color: #000000">I recently started using plain yogurt with fruit and nuts/seeds and protein powder for breakfast instead of the flavoured kind that I had always used.</p>
<p>I made a discovery - it tastes just as good without being overly sweet.</p>
<p>This is great news for me because I am finding it increasingly difficult to find yogurt that isn&#39;t sweetened artificially.</p>
<p>Plain yogurt is the number one choice (balkan is amazing -it&#39;s thicker than normal plain yogurt - I LOVE it!).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The other discovery that I made was that the protein powder was giving it a nice flavour boost as well as the fruit (usually canned unless I make a parfait).</p>
<p>I found myself sprinkling it on like sugar.</p>
<p>It occurred to me that there may be other places that you can use protein powder as a healthy sugar substitute.&nbsp;</p>
<p>How about on your cereal?</p>
<p>What else do you sweeten with sugar (it probably won&#39;t fly with coffee or tea, but if you are having sugar with those, try reducing and then eliminating it anyway. After awhile you will prefer it without).</p>
<p>It could be sprinkled on fruit. Sometimes sugar is used to sweeten up sour fruit or just to make it a treat.</p>
<p>I like bananas with milk and a wee bit of brown sugar (I don&#39;t usually eat it that way, but it is a good dessert option), I bet protein powder would be good.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I&#39;d love to hear your suggestions on places that sugar could be replaced with protein powder.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold; color: #000066">TIP: </span>Be sure to get a protein powder that has no artificial sweetener. The &quot;cleaner&quot; the better. Take the time to compare brands, there is a vast difference in nutritional value between them.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Get one with Whey Isolates, it absorbs better and faster.&nbsp;</p>
<p>As my main protein powder to use before and after work outs or when I want a pick me up, I am using Prograde that I purchased at <a href="http://quickpaypro.com/x.php?10495_u90" target="_blank" title="Club FYM">Club FYM</a>. I can feel the difference when I use it. My workouts are stronger, I feel a core energy that I don&#39;t seem to get with other brands.</p>
<p>I did a comparison before I bought it, and it could be because it is really packed with additional nutritional value as well.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I also buy a supplemental protein powder to have on hand at Walmart, or sometimes my health food store, it depends on where I am and what&#39;s on sale.</p>
<p>It can be expensive, so it&#39;s nice to save when possible.</p>
<p>But don&#39;t skimp on value and remember the value that you are getting for your dollars.</p>
<p>For me it is worth every penny to have an easy way to get good nutrition into my diet.</p>
<p>It&#39;s easy to blow the same amount of money on junk if your not careful. I&#39;d rather cut the junk and get the protein!</p>
<p>And also for my kids. My son who has always been painfully skinny has started drinking them and I swear he is filling out before my eyes.</p>
<p>It could be that he was lacking a key nutrient or just needed the nutritional boost that he is getting from having a smoothie most days (I also put frozen fruit, yogurt, rice milk and even sneak a bit of spinach in when I can. I have put some ground pumpkin seeds in too, but can&#39;t go over board, if he catches wind of it, he won&#39;t like it <img src="http://queenofkaos.com/SIZZLIN-blog/wp-content/plugins/Wysi-Wordpress/plugins/emotions/images/guns.gif" border="0" alt="Guns" title="Guns" />)</p>
<p>So, can you think of a way to use protein powder as a healthy sugar substitute?</p>

<p>When I first saw the recipe, frankly I was skeptical.</p>
<p>A green smoothie?</p>
<p>I could see that should putting spinach in a smoothie work out, it could be just what I was looking for to get a little extra quality greens into my diet.</p>
<p>So I went for it.</p>
<p>And to my surprise, it was fantastic.</p>
<p>At first I was very careful to follow the smoothie recipe to be sure that the spinach didn&#39;t somehow become overwhelming and the taste make my face turn, well&#8230; green.</p>

<p>But after awhile I started getting adventurous. &nbsp;</p>
<p>I started adding it to almost all of my smoothies.</p>
<p>Other than a change of colour, I barely could tell a difference, except that I had just upped the health quotient by leaps and bounds.</p>
<p>Last night, I knew I had hit the big time.</p>
<p>I have a basic protein drink that I split to drink before and after my workout (I use prograde from <a href="http://quickpaypro.com/x.php?10495_u90" target="_blank" title="Club Fit Yummy Mummy">Club FYM</a>, it&#39;s clean - no artificial sugar and fillers and has a very good nutritional profile).</p>
<p>If I&#39;m late working out, I don&#39;t want too many calories or anything too heavy, so I keep it to powder, a bit of rice milk and water.</p>
<p>But last night I had a thought. Why not add some spinach?</p>
<p>So I did. I added a substantial handful of spinach to the last half of my protein drink after my workout. </p>
<p>And it tasted great.</p>
<p>Not really any different than a smoothie without except that it had more substance.&nbsp;</p>
<p>So I will be making it a habit from now on.</p>
<p>Next time your out shopping, grab some baby spinach and don&#39;t be shy when you add it to your daily smoothie (if you&#39;re not having a daily smoothie, you need to start. They are a powerhouse of nutrition, they taste great and they are quick to make)</p>
