    Free Exercise

    Sunday, May 20, 2007

Speaking of exercise, one of the great things about spring and summer is that there are all kinds of “free exercise” opportunities to get you into shape without even realizing it. Like to garden? That can be a superior work out. Like to bike? Another great work out that will drop pounds like no tomorrow [...]

Get Out Your Exercise Clothes, Enough Fooling Around!

    Friday, May 11, 2007

I was cleaning out my dresser and found my work out clothes that had become my daily wardrobe when the gym was open where I live. They immediately brought back “feel good” memories, and memories of how ingrained they had become into my routine. I set them out every night, or put them in my [...]

    Bottled Water News

    Friday, May 11, 2007

I came across this article today in the newsletter I receive from the Worldwatch Institute. (very interesting publication worth signing up for) http://www.worldwatch.org/node/5063 It outlines some surprising issues with bottled water that you may not have been aware of. Personally, I filter my tap water. My biggest health concern is the leaching of plastic into [...]

    The Missing Piece

    Tuesday, May 8, 2007

It has become obvious to me as I continue along with a healthy lifestyle and weight loss as a focus that there are a few main pieces to the puzzle, omit even one and it becomes almost impossible to have success. It’s quite fascinating. Have you ever heard of 212°. It’s the temperature that boils [...]

    Self Permission = Self Sabotage

    Friday, May 4, 2007

You might wonder why the act of detaching sensory satisfaction from a food will make it easier to resist. Apart from the obvious, we want it for the sensory pleasure that it gives us, even if we don’t even pay attention half the time to what we are eating (that’s a whole other story!), there [...]

A Butter Tart by Any Other Name…

    Saturday, April 28, 2007

is still a butter tart. Or is it? My daughter wanted me to buy butter tarts, which I just happen to love warmed in the microwave with ice cream. That’s not diet food! (like I have to tell you) By some miracle, there where two lonely butter tarts sitting in the package for 3 or [...]

Drinking Water to Fascilitate Weight Loss

    Monday, April 2, 2007

During my weight loss challenge, I found that no matter how well I behaved in cutting out junk and controlling my eating habits, even if I kept up my exercise, I had problems loosing weight if I didn’t drink my water. Even one water bottle per day, mine is 3 cups, made the difference. So [...]

What is the best thing to eat after exercising?

    Saturday, March 31, 2007

During a seminar at our gym, the nutritionist told us that a protein with a small carb was essential within 1/2 hour of exercising to replenish/repair muscle tissue after exercising, making your next work out and fat burned between more effective. I usually was hungry anyway as I eat often but not before exercising, so [...]

    Your Mother was right…

    Saturday, March 24, 2007

when she said to sit up straight and watch your posture! Not only does it feel better, it knocks a few inches off the paunch AND strengthens your stomach and hip muscles. AND it allows your organs to function better as they aren’t schlumped together . Want a quick and easy way to start building [...]

It is definitely the time of year to be getting back on board with a Fit Yummy Mummy 12 Week Challenge – I am counting down the days to being 10lbs lighter and 12 weeks stronger!

Holly gives us assignments throughout the challenge, today it is to examine perfection and the effect that it has on our results – and how it can more likely than not cause more trouble than it saves. I am looking at that today.

How about you. Has perfection ever brought you down in your efforts to lose weight or get healthier?
