    Fitness and Weight Loss Challenge for Moms

    I missed posting my stats last week so this week I will post for both.

    I did measure (of course :0)

    I have been seeing some changes in the past weeks, the biggest jump seems to have come since 'graduating' to the intermediate level exercises at the beginning of week 7 – in the Fit Yummy Mummy program, you progress from Introductory for 2 to 4 weeks, then Beginner for 4 weeks, then Intermediate for 4 weeks, then Advanced for 4 weeks and beyond.

    This gives a few advantages. First being that you work up and can tweak the exercises either through intensity or repetition to your own fitness level as you start out.

    And basically the same advantages apply as you advance – the exercises grow increasingly more challenging, and as you progress, you can add weight to get increase benefit and avoid plateaus.

    I think that during week 4 and 5 that I should have been increasing weight and would have seen more progress.

    I saw an almost immediate improvement as soon as I added weight at the end of week 6 and went on to Intermediate with a bigger challenge and heavier weights. 

    As long as you keep this in mind and never get complacent, you will continue to improve and get stronger with this program.

    So, on with the stats for weeks 6 and 7.


    * Height approx 5 3.5 

    * Weight 129.5 lbs (holding even after easter!)

    * Waist 73cm (same)

    * Belly Bulge 85 cm (down 1 again! This is great because it is my biggest problem area)

    * Hips 93 cm (too be honest, I didn't measure,maybe I'll surprise myself next week :0)

    * Thighs 53.5 – (too be honest, I didn't measure,maybe I'll surprise myself next week :0)


    * Height approx 5 3.5 

    * Weight 129.5 lbs (down 1! under 130 finally, yippee!)

    * Waist 73cm (same – it may go down a bit as my abs flatten, but I think I've almost topped out here)

    * Belly Bulge 86 cm (down 1, yippee!)

    * Hips 93 cm (same)

    * Thighs 53.5 – (same)

    • Huge improvement over past Easters. It used to be a non fast chocolate gorge fest for at least a week and always a time that I gained weight. One year I even got sick (I mean as in no energy and feeling like I was coming down from something) from eating basically nothing but chocolate for days. I have gained up to 5 lbs over past easter holidays. This year, I was off my routine, but it will be easily recoverable.
    • Moving to intermediate workouts and increasing weights. I am seeing a noticeable difference in the strength of my arms, abs and legs.
    • Have been able to do my interval training as well as resistance training on the same day. On the Fit Yummy Mummy program, you can switch up your schedule to suit you. I have been doing mine one per day because I felt that I got a better workout as I was wiped after my resistance training. Now I can do both back to back and will have time to walk on my off days now that it is getting nicer out. Would like to also add some yoga on off days for some good stretching and relaxation.


    • Some days I didn't use my food journal. Those days I found I did not eat properly. There is a direct connection. My food journal is one of my greatest tools to keep my eating habits in check. (same as last time. I use it almost every day, but if I get off track, my nutrition and calorie count suffers)
    • Found that I just wasn't hungry for about a week so I didn't eat as often as I have been. But then over easter I was ravenous for real food so ate more. Now I should be getting back to normal.
    • Missed an interval workout. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a huge deal. The good news is that I LOVE the feeling I get after a workout so this will never become a regular occurrence.

    These past few weeks have seen some spectacular changes, most noticeably in what I am able to do in my daily life due to my increased strength. I will have more to say about this in another post.

    Meanwhile, I will be continuing my journey to Yumminess.

    It is definitely the time of year to be getting back on board with a Fit Yummy Mummy 12 Week Challenge – I am counting down the days to being 10lbs lighter and 12 weeks stronger!

    Holly gives us assignments throughout the challenge, today it is to examine perfection and the effect that it has on our results – and how it can more likely than not cause more trouble than it saves. I am looking at that today.
