    WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS FORMULA #1

Core Commitment + Support = Weight Loss Success

    Yuck.

    Core commitment.

The very sound of it turns me off.

I have never been big on commitment – core or otherwise.

It means that you have to do stuff when you don't want to.

Even if it's for your own good. Especially if it's for your own good.

    But the truth is…

WE DON'T HAVE TO LIKE IT

We have to want to succeed.

And core commitment – commitment at the core of our very being – is what will get us there when push comes to shove.

It's what will keep us going when we want to quit.

When we want to cheat once. And then again.

It's the thing that will make us say to ourselves – "look self… do you want to do this thing or not. If you do, your going to blow it if you don't get back on track with the decision that you are making right this minute. How bad do you want it. Yeah, you. I'm talking to you."

And you will make your decision that minute – to succeed or to fail fully by the weight of your own core commitment.

The good news is that it gets easier.

Beginning is the hardest part. After a bit of success, your commitment will grow without even trying.

THE ONLY TIME YOU ARE WHOOPED IS WHEN YOU DECIDE TO GIVE UP

The one true way to guarantee that you will not succeed at your weight loss or healthy living plan is to give up.

It may mean going slower. It may mean doing some problem solving to overcome some new or old challenges. It may mean switching up our plan.

It will probably mean finding out what doesn't work first.

The main thing is, that we maintain a plan. We stick to a program, what ever it may be, how many changes and how ever long it may take.

We don't lose sight of our goal and our desire to succeed – if not now, then later.

Sometimes we make a conscious decision to give up – sometimes we slowly fall out of habits that have been giving us success – often times life throws us a curve ball just when we where on the right track.

It never ceases to amaze me how easily slacking off or losing our "groove" one or two times for one reason or the other can grow into complete destruction of a new positive habit – it can happen in any area of life.

With no support system to remind us to stay on track or to give us a new perspective, it is so easy to fade back into our old lifestyle.

IF A TREE FALLS IN THE FOREST, DOES IT MAKE A SOUND?

    I don't know.

But I do know that if I eat a bag of cookies and haven't got Holly and the Fit Yummy Mummy's to report my progress to, it's a lot easier to do it again tomorrow, and the next day.

Maybe the question should be – if a cookie happens to fall out of the bag and I happen to eat it, does anybody hear?

At Fit Yummy Mummy they do!

GIVE YOUR CORE COMMITMENT LEVEL A HELPING HAND

It's generally an accepted fact that most people have better success with their goals if they have a buddy or support system.

There is just something about being accountable to someone else that ups the desire to succeed. Maybe we all like to show off once in awhile.

    I know I do!

But it goes deeper than that. We don't like to let others down. We like to inspire by example. We like to share our wins, we like to be on a team – especially a winning team.

And encouragement when we just don't feel like we can do can turn things around in an instance.

The syncronisity of a group also helps to increase our success factor. We can share tips, advice… get our questions answered and learn by sharing

But ultimately, your success will come from you.

It's the moments when you are alone at your core, facing down…

    • that birthday cake staring you in the face when you are alone in the kitchen (there is one with my name on it in my kitchen as I write).
    • that easter chocolate
    • that 2nd helping that you know you don't need

At those moments, it will all depend on you and your commitment factor.

    JUST HOW COMMITTED ARE YOU?

That is going to be the question you will be asking yourself again and again.

When push comes to shove, that will be your deciding factor.

    THE Y IN THE ROAD

That is why it's always a good idea to fully examine your priorities and your reasons before embarking on a new you.

Do you want to make changes for your health?

If that's the case, be sure to fully internalize the effects that your weight or health are having on your life.

Do you get our of breath with minimal exertion?

What will happen to your family if something happens to you?

How will their health be affected by your changes?

    Think about it. Feel it.

Reading about heart health and heart attack statistics is far different than feeling your own heart race at the slightest exertion, the scare that you may have felt when having chest pain that turned out to be heartburn. Inside you know when you are pushing the envelope.

Reading about the guy who died young because he was in poor physical condition is different than sitting for a minute and imagining a house empty of your presence.

Take a minute and try it now. It could change your life.

Just want to look your best and have the freedom to move, to dress nicely without having to camouflage body parts?

Sit down and imagine, or remember the last time that you felt really good about yourself.

When you had that spark… when taking care of yourself… doing your hair and your make-up… dressing up and liking the way you looked was a normal part of your day.

Those are the feelings that will help you to remember why when you have to choose to continue to step up – or step down.

To feel at your core your reasons to make the choices that will keep you on track, is the thing that will see you through to the next level.

At some point, your own success will be enough.

SOMETIMES YOU WILL JUST WANT TO WIN

You will want to be able to go to your support system and share your latest and greatest news.

That's when the real fun starts.

A support system makes it harder to quit and easier to keep trying.

The only times that I have been successful in creating and sticking to healthy habits that resulted in weight loss and better health was when I had a support system, no matter how committed I was, no matter how much I wanted it.

Life happens and it was just to easy to say tomorrow when I was going it alone.

And as you know, it doesn't take long for tomorrow to become yesterday.

In the end, it was always up to me, but my support system supported me in my choices. It can mean a lot in "those moments" of temptation to take the easy way.

My #1 support system has been Holly and the other Fit Yummy Mummy's who have been busy losing baby bellies, getting buff and yes, having difficulties.

And guess what – they are "getting back on that horse" because as Melissa, a Fit Yummy Mummy says "Thanks ladies! You all had something to say that I needed to hear."

Without them, I'm not sure that I would have made it this far either.

With them, I'm sure that I will make it through – and beyond.

It's hard not to be on when you have a group of 600 supporters cheering you on!

DO YOU WANT TO BE A FIT YUMMY MUMMY?  YOU CAN BE…

I wouldn't ask if I didn't believe whole heartedly that if getting healthy and back in shape is something that you sincerely want, that you can achieve it and more with Holly's program.

If you are looking for weight loss success, to feel great and to get strong, ask yourself – what's stopping you?

It is definitely the time of year to be getting back on board with a Fit Yummy Mummy 12 Week Challenge – I am counting down the days to being 10lbs lighter and 12 weeks stronger!

Holly gives us assignments throughout the challenge, today it is to examine perfection and the effect that it has on our results – and how it can more likely than not cause more trouble than it saves. I am looking at that today.

How about you. Has perfection ever brought you down in your efforts to lose weight or get healthier?
