I realized a funny thing yesterday when I was at the dentist.
The last time I was there for a series of dental work, the gym was open - I was going to regularly and I was doing very well in reaching my 10lb weight loss goal.
The gym closed and I have slowly slipped back into the old routine of not doing my exercises again. I watch my calories but still allow more than I was at the time when I was doing so well.
And I have found myself with the same stubborn few lbs that seem to like their new home just below my belly button - they are unwelcome guests!
Anyway, being back at the dentist, put me exactly back into the state of mind that I was in when I was finding it effortless to loose the weight and stick to healthy habits without even thinking about them. I feel pumped again! Better yet, it doesn’t feel like a temporary rush, rather a return - who says you can’t go back!
I am wondering if there is any place that could get you back to the day when you where pleased with your fitness level, lifestyle and daily habits?
If you are struggling now and there is, I would recommend trying to go back and see if it changes your mindset and helps you to get back into your “healthy mode”. Especially if you go there with this goal in mind. Don’t think back wishfully or get depressed. Go back thinking “that was me and it still is me”, and then just jump back in.
A very effective success habit is to think it so, which is exactly what you would be doing. It really does work, especially in the area of health because we automatically find ourselves following our own ingrained “script”.
If you think you are a couch potatoe who eats too much junk and has no control, guess who you will find sitting on the couch eating too much junk with no control?
If you can’t actually go there, try any other stimulous that was a regular part of your life before - your work out clothes - a special meal ritual like making a smoothie everyday - a journal could be extremely helpful - things like that could be just what you need to reset your mindset.
