Weight Loss

queenofkaossizzlinsand110.jpgI am still in shocked disbelief, but just as I had planned to severely cut access to our families junk food by doing more of our own baking and better meal planning, my husband bought a case of 50 chocolate bars!

We where checking out a bulk grocery store, it sure pushes the envelope on sneaking a treat into the cart.

Needless to say, I’ve certainly eaten more chocolate bars that I normally would have been lately.

The other day I was eating one when I shouldn’t have been and I knew it.  2 of my kids happened to be around so I gave them each some of it.

End result? I didn’t miss it but I never would have stopped myself had I merely tried wrapping part of it up and saving for later.

I felt a little guilt in giving them food that I knew not to be a healthy choice, but really, a little piece of chocolate bar was not going to hurt them, and neither one of them had over done their quota for the day at any rate.

It really can be a good over all weight reduction strategy. Not so much that you need to get in the habit of passing your bad habits on to your kids or loved ones, but that you can get in the habit of sharing food instead of being in the habit of “making it for yourself”.

Actually, my daughters got onto this concept themselves during the great chocolate bar caper.

They wanted to make theirs last longer, so instead of having one whole one each, they decided to share one between them, therefore having chocolate twice as long.

I thought it was brilliant.

How can you put this concept into practice?

Next time you reach for a treat, just ask if anyone else would like to share. It’s that simple.

You might help them too.

Note: if it is someone else who is trying hard to avoid any junk and they are doing well, don’t tempt them, they could be the exception to this rule :0)

ACTION TIP

Get in the habit of sharing.
