What Are You Doing For ‘Green Day’?

Eating Better, Freaked Out & 40

I had a fantastic night last night.

We've started a tradition for birthday's here to go and stay at the local motel, it has a pool, workout room etc.

We don't go on holiday so it's kind of like a mini holiday that the kids can really look forward, as well as a gaggle of their friends.

I go myself with them and get my own room, so it is a really nice 'get away' for me as well.

Usually my husband has been away at work so it was a non issue.

This weekend he was home but stayed with my other daughter who had friends over.

He said this isn't how I thought the weekend was going to turn out.

I thought he meant that he had planned to come with me.

When I asked him, he said 'NO! I'm just glad that they aren't coming here!".

    So it has it's advantages.

The point is that I brought my laptop expecting to enjoy the high speed internet at the motel.

And I did! But not in the way that I had expected.

As you know, I've been doing Fit Yummy Mummy for a little over a year now.

I love it, it's really put me on track with my fitness goals and getting strong (for my age – hahhhh!).

As I'm turning 45 next week, I found myself wanting to up my nutritional routine a notch and remembered a site I had checked out before on raw foods that was really fantastic.

It put me in mind of FYM in the hands on approach by both Holly for FYM and Tera at The Raw Divas Blog.

I got a newsletter from them called Health in High Heels and clicked through.

I am so glad that I did, it's exactly what I had been looking for.

And I ended up spending the whole night on the blog, reading The Queen Smoothie Queen AND joining a few of their challenges – the 90 Day Detox and of course The Green Smoothie Challenge – I am a St. Pattie's Day baby after all and green has ALWAYS been my favourite colour.

It is all so well presented, it's worth checking out just for the visuals, but the information is, well… informative! And inspiring. And just what I was looking for.

So of course I had to hop on and let you know because registration is open only until tomorrow for the Green Smoothie Challenge.

There is nothing like a good green smoothie to up your nutrition and really give an enjoyable way to get those greens in.

They are so important and so lacking from most of our diets.

If you want the ebook package, it costs more, but you can get in on the challenge for just $5, which goes towards helping the whales. You can't lose.

Well, you can, but it will be all stuff you don't want anyway!

It is going for a few extra days this round, so it starts the 11 or 12 (not sure which) and goes until the 17th, by which time your friends will be 'green with envy' at how great you are looking and feeling.

It couldn't have been more perfect timing. Funny how that goes.

I have already been doing some detoxing by avoiding grains and gluten and dairy where every possible.

It really is making a difference in how I am feeling, especially that bloated feeling that I just couldn't seem to shake.

If that's you, it might be time to ramp it up a notch with some green smoothies.

Check back here regularly if you want to get updated on how it's going (you can subscribe to the blog through rss or email at the top right), and definitely add your experiences.

There is also lots of room in the forum and on the Raw Divas Blog to add your input and see how lots of others are doing on the challenge too.

Wheeeeeeeeeeee! (that's my new favourite word for 2009!)

Click the Green Smoothie Queen below for more info and to sign up.

It says 3 days, but we get a whole 7 days this time around!

It is definitely the time of year to be getting back on board with a Fit Yummy Mummy 12 Week Challenge – I am counting down the days to being 10lbs lighter and 12 weeks stronger!

Holly gives us assignments throughout the challenge, today it is to examine perfection and the effect that it has on our results – and how it can more likely than not cause more trouble than it saves. I am looking at that today.

How about you. Has perfection ever brought you down in your efforts to lose weight or get healthier?
